Founder Bio

Anne Custer is the founder of Oak Leaf Communication and our lead writer. An experienced writer who has written a wide-variety of materials for businesses, nonprofits, academic institutions, and professional organizations, she has more than fifteen-years experience in academic publishing, and has served as a writer, graphic designer, website designer, project manager, photographer, advertising assistant, typesetter, proofreader, consultant, and more.

Anne's educational experience supports her work experience in publishing and extends her passion for the environment. Her interdisciplinary Bachelor's of Arts degree in English, communication, and religion from Westminster College included training in film, video, radio, television, and advertising whereas her graduate degrees from Princeton and Harvard had a significant focus on various aspects of environmental studies—everything from environmental science, to environmental justice, to public policy, climate change, and beyond.

A strong advocate for continual education, Anne has completed professional development courses in copywriting through American Writers and Artists Incorporated (AWAI) as well as screenwriting and graphic design courses (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) at Harvard.

She is currently studying for her USGBC Green Associate and SITES certifications.
